Emily Logan Concert
Pathways to Inspiration
A concert, featuring pianist Emily Logan, will take place
at Mount Royal United Church on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017
at 7pm. The program, entitled Pathways to
Inspiration, with feature a collection of works that served as a guiding
pathway. Just as the composers inspired each other, one’s journey as a musician
is not without the inspiration of others. Featured composers include Mozart,
Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Barber.
Pianist, Emily Logan, from Moncton, NB, began her musical journey
at an early age. She won the 2nd place prize at the National Music
Festival in the Chamber Music Category in 2013, was the 2012 winner of the Zoya
Solod Piano Scholarship at University of Ottawa, the recipient of three ArtsNB
Grants in 2015 and in 2012, and the 2011 winner of the New Brunswick Piano
Competition. Emily is currently a student in the Doctor of Musical Arts Program
at the University of British Columbia. She completed a Master of Music in Piano
Performance at the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Music from Mount
Allison University. Her principle teachers have included Dr. Terence Dawson,
Lynn Johnson, David Jalbert, and Virginia Weckstrom. Emily is also an alumnus
of the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School. As a performer, she has
given solo, collaborative, and chamber music recitals. She was guest artist at
the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates in March 2015.
Outside of her studies, Emily also remains active as a solo and collaborative
pianist, church pianist and organist, private piano teacher, and competition
adjudicator.
Admission
is $10 for adults and $5 for youth under 16. Tickets are available at the door.
